This week we are highlighting Teacher Appreciation, as we praise God for Brookstone’s teachers!

Every day, they show up and support each student spiritually, socially, and academically. They teach, mentor, and encourage—all in the name of Jesus—and so often, they go far beyond the call of duty.

One terrific example is Mrs. Sedae Slaughter.

She joined Brookstone in the fall of 2023, teaching 7th and 8th grade English. By the end of her first year, she was named Dean of Students for Upper School—a role she is perfectly fit for.

This year alone, Ms. Slaughter has:

  • Continued teaching 7th/8th grade English,

  • Launched school-wide pep rallies and events to build school spirit, including the Bulldog Blitz, and

  • Created multiple ways to highlight our students’ achievements—from students of the month to acknowledging those who treat one another as image-bearers of God.

But her work doesn’t stop at Brookstone. Ms. Slaughter is also a wife, a mother of three, an author and she serves at her church.

Her life is a living testimony of what it means to use your gifts and talents for God’s glory by equipping students with faith, virtue, and knowledge!
