Brookstone Schools seeks rising JK-8 students from all ethnic, cultural and racial backgrounds who can benefit from a challenging academic program and make positive contributions to the school community. Students are admitted on the basis of school records, academic testing, interviews, and teacher recommendations.

Submit an application and we’ll schedule an interview. Our team will meet with you while your student completes a readiness assessment. Once your student is accepted, we’ll let you know what your school fees will be. We adjust your fees based on your income. Cost should not have to keep you away.

Financial Aid
Brookstone is committed to admitting qualified students regardless of a family’s ability to pay the full cost of education. All financial aid awards are based on a family’s demonstrated need and are made available to students at every grade level. The School makes the awards based upon the evaluation by FACTS and upon its own analysis of the data submitted.

What are your class sizes?
The maximum class size in K-2nd is 13 students, 3rd-5th is 16 students, and 6th-8th grade is 18 students.
Do Brookstone students take the North Carolina End of Grade (EOG) tests?
Brookstone students do not take the North Carolina EOG tests as these tests are written for public school students. Our students take the ERB, which is a nationally norm-referenced achievement test. Our students’ achievement tests are compared to students across the nation, not just the state of North Carolina.
How do Brookstone students perform on nationally norm-referenced achievement test?
Academic averages of graduating classes place in the top 30% of the country.
When do you accept applications for the next school year?
We begin accepting new student applications in October for the next school year.
How old does my child need to be for JK or Kindergarten?
Students must be 4 by August 31 for Junior Kindergarten and must be 5 by August 31 for Kindergarten.
What grade levels does Brookstone have?
We currently offer Junior Kindergarten through 8th grade.
How much does Brookstone cost?
In 2025-26, the full cost to educate a child is $21,400 per year. However, Brookstone Schools offers financial aid to ensure families who wish for their students to attend are not deterred by financial limitations.
Do you offer special education services?
Brookstone attempts to address academic issues for students who are struggling, but we have limited resources. Parents of students who need speech therapy can arrange to have a private speech/language pathologist work with their child during school hours. We may or may not be able to provide limited accommodations for students who have previously been given an Individualized Education Plan in the public school setting.
How do I know if we're a good fit for Brookstone?
Brookstone Schools mission is "to glorify God by equipping under-resourced students academically, socially, and spiritually for future lives of leadership and service.
Families and student(s) may be a good fit for Brookstone Schools if they meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Live in a Title I School District
- Attend a failing CMS School
- Receive income that is at or below the federal poverty income guidelines for the current year
Is Brookstone accredited?
Brookstone is registered and licensed by the North Carolina Department of Non-Public Instruction. The state monitors our records annually and examines the immunization forms, academic progress, and health and fire inspections. We are members of the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools (NCAIS). We are officially accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and we are in the process of seeking dual accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
How does Brookstone track a student's progress?
We use various tests to track student progress throughout the year. Testing helps us observe what gains each child makes from August to May.
Where do Brookstone students go after they graduate?

How do you accept students?
Students’ applications are reviewed on a first-come basis. Factors included in acceptance are age, previous grades, siblings enrolled in school, and testing levels.

Do you provide after school programs?
Yes, we are pleased to offer a variety of after-school programs. These include tutoring, enrichment programs, and sports programs. Please visit our After School Enrichment Program webpage to learn more.
Do students wear uniforms?
For all grades (JK-8) we have a dress code that allows white, navy, and/or light blue polos and navy blue or khaki pants/shorts for boys and white, navy, and/or light blue polos and navy blue or khaki skirts/pants/shorts or white, navy, or light blue jumpers for girls. For chapel gentleman are required to wear a tie or bow tie and ladies are required to wear a dress, skort, or skirt. In the winter, students may wear a Brookstone hoodie or a navy fleece purchased through the school. They may also wear a plain cardigan or fleece in navy, gray, black or white in the classroom. White or dark athletic shoes or dark colored casual shoes are permitted (No sandals or rollers).
