A major part of Brookstone’s mission is encouraging our students to view themselves and others as image-bearers of God.
Every Friday morning our 8th graders get the opportunity to exemplify this commitment, as they volunteer with our next-door neighbor—Metro School.
Metro School serves approximately 250 students who face a variety of cognitive, physical, and medical challenges—specializing instruction and therapies tailored to their students’ needs, along with providing opportunities for adapted physical education, arts, and vocational training.
Brookstone 8th graders partner with Metro students by serving as buddies—assisting in classes and activities that foster connection and learning.

Students are not just acquiring volunteer hours—they’re learning to heed Jesus’ calling to love their neighbor as themselves and make a difference in the Charlotte community.
